Every Damn Mile Matters — Because So Do You

Some weeks feel like they’re trying to take you out. Not gently. Not politely. I’m talking full‑on WWE body‑slam energy — deadlines piling up, life throwing curveballs, and the universe whispering, “Let’s see how she handles this.”

This week? Yeah. It was one of those.

Between taking family time to visit with my grandkids — who have more energy than my Garmin on a full charge — and trying to keep up with a few lake‑place projects that apparently multiply when I’m not looking, life has been… a lot. I even squeezed in a night of Netflix without the chill, because sometimes a woman just needs to watch a show where someone else’s life is messier than hers.

And let’s not forget the homemade chicken salad phase I’m in. I swear I’ve chopped so much celery this week I should get forearm definition badges.

But here’s the thing I’ve learned — and honestly, the thing that keeps me sane: running saves me every single time. Not because it’s easy. Not because I’m fast. Not because I’m chasing some perfect version of myself. Running saves me because it’s the one place where the noise shuts off and I can hear myself think again.

And let me be clear: I run so I don’t say what I’m actually thinking. It’s cheaper than bail. That’s not a joke — that’s a lifestyle.

Every mile this week felt like a reset button. A breath. A reminder that I can still move forward even when everything else feels stuck — even when I’m juggling grandkids, projects, meals, errands, eating, living, and whatever other surprise tasks life throws at me like it’s hosting its own game show.

I didn’t have perfect runs. I didn’t have perfect days. But I showed up — every damn mile, even when the rest of life felt like it was trying to knock me sideways. And honestly? That’s the part I’m proud of.

Running didn’t fix the chaos. But it kept me steady inside it.

So here’s to the weeks that try us… and the miles that save us.
